Operating a forklift requires a degree of precision and skill to be productive and efficient, while remaining safe. Forklift truck operation is a fine example of embodied actions. It is very different from the symbolic operation of computers, but perhaps this is what IT interaction will aspire to in the future!
The project involves video analysis of forklift operations with a goal of better understanding the interaction of the operator and the lift truck performing a variety of tasks. The project cooperates with CROWN, a leading equipment corporation in the US and with AMU Syd where data of training sessions with forklifts are being collected to understand how complex driving skills are established.
The project builds on a seminar on Video Analysis seminar on Video Analysis conducted by Jacob Buur and Agnese Caglio in autumn 2013
