Guy Julier is the University of Brighton/Victoria & Albert Museum Principal Research Fellow in Contemporary Design and Professor of Design Culture and Visiting Professor of Design Studies at the University of Southern Denmark in Kolding. In his work, Julier is drawing on a range of theoretical perspectives, but at the same time he foregrounds the everyday business and professional context in which designers work. Follow some of his activities here.

Guy Julier: In this talk I draw from strategy work I have been undertaking for the UK Arts and Humanities Research Council to help define its future programes. I identify the background to the rise of social design and some of the key challenges to developing a research agenda for it. In particular, I discuss the relationships of activist and social design research and whether these can be reconciled.
