Guy Julier: In this talk I draw from strategy work I have been undertaking for the UK Arts and Humanities Research Council to help define its future programes. I identify the background to the rise of social design and some of the key challenges to developing a research agenda for it. In particular, I discuss the relationships of activist and social design research and whether these can be reconciled.
